Of course the first thing that probably comes to mind is alcohol! But before I get into any of that stuff, you must first learn the basic important safety tips at night:
- At all times possible, walk in groups!! Preferably minimum of 3 of you, STICK TOGETHER
- Stay in well lit areas
- Hold onto your cellphone for your life
- CALL 911 even if you're scared or panicking. The police are there to protect you.
Okay now onto the alcohol part of your busy night. Usually if you're a freshman, you are probably under age. Now it's okay because you're in college and well, YOU'RE IN COLLEGE. Just don't get
caught.
Drinking safety tips from my experience:
- If you don't know your own tolerance yet, I suggest you take it slow on the first night out.
- If you're taking shots of hard liquor, SPACE OUT your timing.
- For example; I used to take shots every 15 minutes.
- DO NOT OVERINDULGE. This is a given, and well you gotta know your tolerance first, but just take a 30-40 minute break or completely stop drinking when you start to feel dizzy.
- Under no circumstance do you ever put down a drink and walk away and pick it back up.
- Always hold onto your cup!
- There ARE sick, disgusting, despicable people out there that will drop something in your cup when you are not looking. Be careful. Please.
- What I used to do is stop by a deli or store that sells water or iced tea and buy a can of Arizona to bring to the party.
- Why? --- Because the water/iced tea will help me want to go to the bathroom quicker and will make me flush out all the alcohol in my body.
- Stay close to your friends.
- If you see your friend having a bit too much to drink, try to stop them from consuming any more and make them take a break and sit down.
- Be careful of jungle juice or any other mixed drinks, they might taste good with no alcohol in them, but they can actually be more dangerous than regular drinks.
- Lastly, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DRINK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO.
Other tips:
- Try not to wear white clothes/shoes unless you know FOR SURE you will keep yourself clean.
- We're mostly in college during the winter/ freezing cold weather, soo you've gotta stay warm! Wear a good cozy jacket and as for pants, you could wear shorts and sweatpants over them, and once you're in the house, take the sweats off!
- If you know someone in the house you are partying at, ask if you could put your belongings in their bedroom or somewhere they know is safe and hidden.
- If you don't know anyone, put your stuff down somewhere that you will be near and to keep your eyes on during the whole party.
- Stick to this rule: Whoever goes in, must come out.
- N E V E R leave your friend behind at the party when going home. This will not only might cause friendship drama, but your friend can EASILY be put in danger, and nobody wants that.
- IF YOU OR YOUR FRIEND NEEDS HELP, NEVER BE AFRAID TO CALL 911. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY. SERIOUSLY.
- Have fun! But please please please be careful. (:
Haha, always gotta take pics with your passed out buddy for memories!
(This was back in freshman year!)
